Hertfordshire
The commuter towns and villages in Hertfordshire mostly have fantastic transport links into the capital. St Albans is always popular and so prices dictate that popularity. Some large international and national businesses offer solid employment opportunities which help support investments and potential capital growth. Being popular areas just outside London means the price brackets match the popularity, but there are some great deals to be had in towns and villages up the A1 motorway including Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Hatfield with its university and some great potentials to increase value or give solid returns.
Bedfordshire
Bedfordshire offers some great options, especially for rental returns with solid links to large towns like Luton and Bedford and road and rail links to further afield. Some smaller market towns, including Biggleswade and Shefford, are growing in popularity with house developments increasing demand, whilst also making the neighbouring villages desirable.
Cambridgeshire
Cambridgeshire offers a wealth of a more rural lifestyle in places. Obviously cities like Cambridge itself, Peterborough and Ely offer a huge amount of different options in major employment and educational areas. Further north towards Lincolnshire and Norfolk we have the Fens. Towns like Huntingdon, St Ives, Wisbech and March offer great value properties, with lower property prices but some really solid rental return yields, and are very much an upcoming hotspot with lots of regeneration projects and transport links.
